Goodness
Yesterday morning, I was reading Psalms 27:13-14 “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord .” And as I read these words, they jump off the page.
Over 20 years ago, this scripture became my lifeline during a dark season. The man I had been married to for multiple years had cheated on me again and again. Then he filed for divorce after a 7-year marriage. I felt hopeless, and at one point, I even tried to take my own life.

But God! He stepped in and birthed life into my hopelessness. He transformed my mind and gave me an expectancy for His goodness! And this scripture, Psalms 27:13-14, spoke so much life into my soul. Now, over 20 years later, I can look back on my life to see how God’s goodness has been the cornerstone of my life.
So, even amid the many unknowns with our daughter, the goodness of God has not ceased. And a fresh expectancy for His glory to be shown rises within me. For His Word says, “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.”
Yes, Lord, we will wait for Your goodness that we will see in the land of the living. We will see You move. Not in our strength and not in our wisdom but in Your power! We will choose to worship You today! Trusting that You are good, no matter what our eyes see. For You, Oh Lord, are powerful! You, Oh Lord, are mighty. And we will see “Your goodness in the land of the living.”
Is there a circumstance that you are facing right now that seems impossible? Are you finding the joy of the Lord being stolen from you because the circumstances seem bigger than the Lord? Together, let us choose to fix our eyes on the Living and Powerful God. Let us trust that He is good, and we will see His goodness in the land of the living. It may look different from what we expect, but oh, how sweet His goodness is.
