Peru On the Horizon

While we were at the Ronald McDonald House in Jacksonville, Bruce kept hearing the Lord say he was supposed to go to Peru to capture God stories through Reimagine (a ministry he had helped in October 2024). Yet timing was unknown since we didn’t feel any release to make plans while we were living at the Ronald McDonald House.

However, a few days after Christmas, our family took time to pray about this coming year. What did God have in store? First off, our family has had a strong sense that the next MRI the end of January, will show that the tumor in Esperanza’s head has shriveled up and died. These are the exact words we have been praying for over 11 years, and that is exactly what proton therapy does; we believe it is done!!

Therefore, our hearts were full of faith as we worshipped and prayed together. After waiting quietly before the Lord, each family member shared what God had put on their heart. It was incredible how unified what we were hearing was. Everyone had a sense that Bruce would go to Peru on his own. Gryphin had a sense that Bruce would be “going very soon”, and Esperanza heard 8 weeks.

The next week, we met up with the Executive Director of Reimagine, and we quickly learned she was leaving for Peru on January 12th and that she would also have one of her return flights on March 4th (almost exactly 8 weeks).  She was excited to have Bruce join to capture testimonials that show how God has been at work in her family, ministry, and all around Santa Rosita, Peru.

Before purchasing flights, I was having my quiet time and felt led to go back over the words our family had gotten a couple of weeks prior. This is when I was reminded that Esperanza had heard the Lord say 8 weeks and that Gryphin had gotten that it was going to happen soon. Peace flooded my heart, and I went ahead and purchased Bruce’s tickets.

Over the next couple of days, Bruce will have his one-on-one dates with each of the children and me. He will also get everything he needs for the trip and then head out on a flight to Peru on Monday morning. Such a whirlwind of emotions, and yet peace has flooded our home because we know it’s the Lord who is leading us in this endeavor.

Such a different feeling compared to when we try to force or strive. And when our children are a part of the process. We have learned over the years that our children hear the voice of God. There is no junior Holy Spirit, and missions affect the whole family. This means it is so vital for each of them to know what God is speaking when we head onto the mission field.
