The Adventure
Thirty days ago, we embarked on an adventure that God had been talking about, but I was filled with an overwhelming fear of (click here). And yet, over the past 30 days, we’ve helped build 12 homes, supported three teams, forged many connections, snapped and edited hundreds of photos (Bruce was even a wedding photographer!), and we put together a recap video for each team. These videos include drone footage of each house build and more. We’ve designed them to give team members something to share with their families back home, hoping to inspire others to join a mission trip with Reimagine or support Reimagine financially (check out the videos below).
We’ve kicked off the creation of a grant proposal and a financial campaign to help Reimagine secure funding for their orphanage, which they opened in February of 2026. Right now, they’re caring for 11 children, but they can comfortably accommodate up to 20.
Over the next three weeks, before a handful of people from our Pensacola Church arrives, we will create a promotional video for Reimagine’s orphanage. This will help Reimagine show potential partners the heart behind the orphanage and help them raise the $11,000 it costs per month to run their orphanage (currently most of the money comes from the English family’s personal account, but we hope to help them create sustainability for the orphanage).
Over the next three weeks (before the next team arrives), we will also keep gathering testimonials and b-roll footage that highlights God’s true nature and character in people’s lives in Peru. This will hopefully inspire people worldwide to respond to God’s call in their own lives. We’re also planning to reach out to everyone Bruce photographed during his visit in January. Bruce had printed out edited photos, and several people in the US have adopted them and written messages for us to share and pray with. We’re really looking forward to these divine appointments (if you’re interested in adopting a photo to pray over please click here).
Esperanza has also found a stirring in her heart for the orphans and has wondered if she is to work with orphans in the future. During our three weeks without teams, she will help lead a few preschool classes for the three-year-old orphans. Zoe and Amara would live in the orphanage if we let them. They hold babies, feed them, and play. They are living their best lives. And all our kids have found friends with a few of the local Peruvian kids. Gryphin has a boy that comes down the mountain multiple times a week to play soccer with him and Gryphin is teaching him American football.
When we first arrived, I didn’t fully know what God would have in store for us, and yet each step God has begun to unfold what is on His heart. It has been interesting, though; we still haven’t raised enough support for our time here (still need $15,000 to cover our flights, food, lodging, etc), and yet God has asked us to focus on fundraising for another ministry that we believe in. We have been blessed that we’ve been able to pay off our credit card at the end of each month and pay our mortgage, but we had to take from money that we had set aside for our vehicle when we get back to Pensacola and for a few house items that we need to fix. In the natural, this does not make sense, and to be honest, it’s been a hard pill to swallow because every time we have gone on a mission trip, God has always provided the funding we have needed right when we’ve needed it.
Actually, we don’t need the money for our car or house until we get back at the end of September, so God has still not been late. He has provided, and we still haven’t had to pay interest on our credit card, and we still have no debt besides our mortgage. Funny how I have come to this conclusion while I write this blog to you all. He’s reminding me that His timing is not our timing. His ways are not our ways. They are better and perfect.
So we continue to trust the Living God to write our testimony, which we hope inspires others to follow Him. Because He is never late, and following Him without our convoluted agenda is always best. We will continue to work for His Kingdom and trust Him in the process. Even though we could technically get paid for the work we often do, He over and over again asks us to trust Him for our daily bread. It’s a hard and stretching way to live; however, it’s the life He’s chosen for us, and we trust Him.
If you feel the Lord nudging your heart to partner with us, click here. We believe that the Lord will speak to specific people who are called to walk with us, not because they feel coerced but because God will tug on their hearts and they will obey. But for the rest of you, we desire that, through our trust in the Living God, you will be inspired to trust Jesus with your yes!
