Living Hope

As my body desperately tries to adjust to a 14-hour time difference, I find myself basking in the presence of the Lord at three a.m. The past several weeks have been a whirlwind. My faith has been stretched as we’ve faced disappointments and God’s faithfulness. Yet, basking in the Lord’s presence for more than 30 minutes has been difficult. Therefore, even though I’d love to be asleep in the middle of the night, I am thankful for the quiet space and time to reflect.

Reflecting has encouraged me to grasp the beauty of our Savior. When we seek the Lord for specific answers and needs, sometimes this reflection on who He is becomes lost. Instead, our focus can become consumed with what we want from the Living God and not on who the Living God, Adonai, is, for He sent His One and Only Son to die for me so that we may have life. Complete and perfect life through Him.

That’s it. All the tangible stuff of this world is just that, “tangible” and NOT eternal. Stuff comes and it goes. Even people are but the dust of the earth, and yet our powerful, Majestic, Living God chose to come to this earth so that we can spend eternity with Him.

That’s it. There is nothing more to be added. This truth is why we have chosen to take our children into the Outback of Australia. When the Lord, Our Savior, speaks, it is not our place to say “No.” Our life is not our own. We are but dust, and Yaweah is pure; He is Holy. Let us cry out, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Let us be mesmerized by Him, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. Let what Jesus did on the cross be enough. Let us be so filled with this fresh revelation that our passion for Him is contagious, not out of striving or making something happen but with this keen awareness that we are Nothing without Him.

Let this revelation touch our souls so deeply that we don’t see the wind and the waves; instead, we behold His beauty and allow it to flow out of us. Not in striving but in passionate love for our Savior. Let us all see His people with His eyes. Let us have His heartbeat for those He puts in our life. Let us stop worrying about the logistics and allow Him to direct our path with intimate love for Him.
